See how I stress the word "Selamat"? That is because every year major festive seasons such as these (Chinese New Year included) are far from being Selamat(safe). Every year there are deaths on the road which can be very much avoided. The superstitious might say that the road is very "che" (haunted in cantonese) but the real reasons that there are so much death during these festive seasons are caused by drivers themselves. Seriously, Malaysians are very bad drivers. They have zero tolerance on the road. They curse and swear each time a n00b driver made "rookie" mistake on the road. They always wanted to get to the destination the fastest way possible regardless of their safety. Despite of newspaper reports on the total of deaths each festive season, Malaysian drivers seem to ignore it. With drivers like these, no wonder we are still stuck with the third world status.
To all the Malays and Indians, Selamat Hari Raya and Selamat Deepavali and please drive safely.
